Floodplain Information
If your property is located in the floodplain (in full or partly) you will need to complete extra steps in the rebuilding process. You can confirm your property’s status using this search tool.
You must submit a floodplain verification form, as well as a floodplain development permit application, with your rebuilding application.
Recent regulation changes require property owners who have space outside the floodplain on their property to replace their structures in areas outside the floodplain. If your property does not have enough space outside the floodplain to replace your structure you can replace it within its former footprint.
Currently, property owners are required to raise the finished floor of a structure within the floodplain to 12 inches above base flood elevation (BFE) or 24 inches above grade. The new requirement to raise the finished floor to 24 inches above BFE or 36 inches above grade for structures within the floodplain does not take effect until September 7, 2023.
